European Genetic Resources Strategy – Virtual stakeholder feedback workshop

25–26 November 2020, Zoom

The GenRes Bridge consortium has been tasked by the European Commission to produce a pan-European strategy for genetic resources conservation and sustainable use. The aim is to publish a strategy that will be adopted by the European countries and by the EC as a policy framework for securing genetic resources for sustainable and resilient agriculture and forestry in the region. Read more about the development of the strategy here: www.genresbridge.eu/resources/european-strategy/

Central to the development of the European Genetic Resources Strategy is the involvement of a wide array of stakeholders in genetic resources conservation and sustainable use—including management practitioners, end-users and policymakers. This workshop is part of an ongoing stakeholder consultation process with a view to ensuring the Strategy meets the expectations of the broad genetic resources stakeholder community in Europe, and to enhance its relevance and impact.

During the workshop, the draft European Genetic Resources Strategy will be presented and participants will discuss and develop the key commitments of the Strategy that will form the basis of the Action Plan that will be appended to the main strategy document.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the feedback workshop is being convened online instead of as a physical meeting in Padua, Italy, as originally planned.
